SEEKING DIRECTOR/EDITOR for documentary series
LOCATION: Miami
The Live From Midtown Documentary Series (www.talentdocumentary.com), which broadcasts Thursdays at 12:30pm & 2:30pm EST on CoLours TV (DISH Network Channel 9407/9396) and has local productions in 10 major cities, is looking for three (3) talented and dependable Directors/Editors for its after-school program for high school students in the Miami Metro area. This is a part-time position that pays $250/month per school, plus commission (more details under compensation section). Producer's are assigned to up to 5 schools.
Live From Midtown is a youth TV show that is produced at high schools across America; LFM Producers manage the production by overseeing rehearsals and recordings, which takes place on-campus, immediately after school ends during the weekdays. Producers run events at each school 3x a month (for instance, the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Monday of each month). School production events last for 2 hours each (6 total hours/month per school).
LFM is produced by a non-profit organization and ran by college/young adult age production team, so whether you are a seasoned pro with many years of experience, or talented, recent college graduate who has shown creativity and consistency in the production of recent projects, feel free to apply. We are looking not just for a competent producer, but someone who believes in creating positive, grassroots television programming and can join our vision in becoming America's #1 platform for youth performers.
Requirements:
1. Oversee 3 production events/month, per high school, during weekday afternoons (approximately 3pm-5pm, though times vary according to school).
2. Own broadcast quality (prosumer) camera for use in LFM production.
3. Own audio equipment (handheld mic or lavalier) for LFM production.
4. Owning a light kit is preferred, but not required.
5. Own or have access to editing equipment. (*Please note that our production team currently edits all of the programming, but if necessary, we'd like to have the option to have each producers edit their schools' footage (for additional pay), so applicants must own or have access to editing equipment.)
6. Possess strong social and inter-personal communication skills in working with high school students.
7. Consistently show up on time and prepared to oversee production events. Being late is unacceptable.
8. Have access to reliable transportation to travel to high schools during weekday afternoons.
Availability:
1. Producers need to be available during weekday afternoons in August for the initial school visit.
2. Producers need to be available during weekday afternoons in August and/or beginning of September to run the after-school program for the duration of the fall school semester.
Compensation:
1. Payment of $250/month per high school. Producers are assigned to up to 5 high schools.
2. In addition to the monthly payment, producers receive commission based upon the number of students participating in the program, per school. Commissions vary but the average is an additional $150-$250 per school.
If you are interested in the position, please email us the following information.
Required Information:
1. Name
2. Phone Number
3. Email Address
4. Description of your broadcast quality/prosumer camera.
5. Description of your audio & lighting equipment.
6. Description of video editing equipment that you own or have access to.
7. Web link to recent video project that you produced. Please indicate your role in the production of the video that you send.
