THE BEACH CHRONICLES - HALLOWEEN EVE GALA

The Hotel Victor was all a twitter on the night of October 30th for the "The Beach Chronicles" Halloween Eve Gala, sponsored by Complot Magazine and Select Vodka. 800 of Miami's finest came out to celebrate the success of the new series and kick off the ghoulish weekend festivities with guns ablaze. The venue was laced with a candlelit ambiance that was both eerie and sensual, just like the show. As guests trickled in they were greeted with the sultry sounds of French tech juxtaposed with a seventies vibe, swiftly lifting them to another era, another city. Shortly after, smoking trays of "Cherry" red Select Vodka cocktails mixed to perfection were passed around by cocktail waitresses donning chic little black dresses. BRPR stressed high fashion versus cheesy costumes with their message of "Less Gore, More Couture!" and their invited guests certainly got the memo. Attendees arrived sporting their slickest garb, unleashing the fashion maven within. Being as it was the night before Halloween, devilishly sexy vampires and painfully chic witches were also in abundance. DJ Christian even rocked the soiree as a 9 foot Frankenstein, looking fab in a monster sized three-piece suit.

BRPR was charged with planning the event and, in doing so, orchestrated every last detail with tremendous care and relentless style, from the venue selection to the mixology of the signature cocktail. In fact, the location served a dual purpose, as it not only was the perfect place to showcase a brilliant vignette of "The Beach Chronicles" on a 30 foot screen for guests and all of Ocean Drive to see, but it also happens to be the place where Dirk, a focal character of the series, lives and works. The projection, played soundlessly to make way for the trendy beats spun by resident DJ Christian, gave viewers a sneak peek at a brand new episode of "The Beach Chronicles" and featured the main characters as it looped continuously in the background. Featured in the graphically-animated trailer was an exquisite rendering of the Hotel Victor as it appears in the series, and ended with a mention for each of the gracious sponsors of the gala itself.

The affair was centered around "The Beach Chronicles", a graphic-animated novel set in South Beach that brings sex and suspense together in an action thriller made for television. Producers, Kevin Sharpley and Gianfranco Bianchi, designed the series to be the antithesis to the rampant depictions of Miami as being only about coke-laced club-hopping yuppies with bad tans and, instead, brings dark, edgy, fashion-forward allure to every smartly-written plot. Those familiar with South Beach are in for a special treat as nuances to the culture are sprinkled throughout each show, from your favorite doorman Cedric to an overalls laden Mr. Klucky. The series debuted last month to a packed house at Miami Beach Cinematheque. Since then, the response to the series has been overwhelming.  The Beach Chronicles is currently being courted by The Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim to hit national airwaves in 2010.
