FFPC's Legislative Forum

FFPCAs the film and production industries in Florida continue to see business lost to states with better incentive programs, the Florida Film Production Coalition (FFPC) - in cooperation with Film Florida, the Miami-Dade Office of Film & Entertainment, the City of Miami Mayor's Office of Film and Cultural Affairs, the Miami Beach Office of Film & Event Production Management, the Broward Alliance Film Office and the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission - is hosting a Legislative Forum at the Conrad Hilton on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. The Conrad Hilton is located at 1395 Brickell Avenue , Miami , FL 33131 .

The Legislative Forum will provide the opportunity for  industry stakeholders, legislators and the public at-large to engage in a dialogue that will address how the film, TV and digital media tax incentive may be best structured, and used as a model for further economic development and growth incentives in the future, for the greatest benefit of all Florida citizens.

By helping change the current incentive, Legislators will put Floridians back to work; Legislators will put more money into the hands of small businesses; and Legislators become part of a long-term solution which will increase revenue for the State of Florida .

The Legislative Forum is open to the public and will be followed by a wine and cheese reception hosted by the Conrad Hilton.

  • Presentation: Florida 's Film, TV & Digital Media Industry - Today and Looking to the Future.
  • Expert Panel
    Introduction and comments from panelists to include: Lucia Fishburne, State Film Commissioner, Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment.
  • Roundtable Discussion with Legislators & Industry Experts:
    The Legislators and panelists interact and discuss topics regarding successes and perceived weaknesses of the current incentive program, its statewide impact, competitiveness and continuity.
  • Moderated Question & Answer Session with the Public:
    The public will submit questions to a Moderator regarding how to strengthen the program for the future in order to provide the greatest benefit possible to all Floridians.
