FILMIAMI MOVES SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST

FilMiami and Film Florida teamed up at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film, Interactive and Music festivals in Austin, Texas in March. The SXSW conference is one of the most exciting entertainment industry forums in the world, and the Florida presence was a strong one - with a 3 day trade show booth, Mojito happy hour for filmmakers, Florida Fish Fry party, thousands of FilMiami black books distributed to attendees and support for the Florida-based musicians playing at Bandango, a sidebar music festival. The event allowed FilMiami to market its filming opportunities to hundreds of festival attendees, promote the Miami-Dade brand and make many new business contacts for the future. This was the third annual effort by FilMiami to have an increased presence at SXSW, and judging by the turnout of more than 350 filmmakers to the Fish Fry and the word of mouth generated, all the hard work is paying off.
