FIFA Miami Games Impact on Film Permitting

We want to make you aware of significant impacts to film production during the upcoming FIFA World Cup events. Miami-Dade County will be hosting seven FIFA World Cup matches, drawing extremely large crowds, and requiring substantial public safety resources across the county.

Due to the scale of these events, local law enforcement agencies will be fully committed to World Cup security operations. As a result:

  • Miami-Dade County Police officers will not be available to staff any film productions on FIFA match days
  • Film permits requiring law enforcement support will not be approved on match days
  • Traffic restrictions, crowd management operations, and road closures around event zones may also affect production logistics countywide

We strongly encourage all filmmakers, producers, and location managers to plan ahead and adjust production schedules to avoid dates that overlap with the World Cup match calendar. The FIFA World Cup matches in Miami dates are:

  • Monday, June 15
  • Sunday, June 21
  • Wednesday, June 24
  • Saturday, June 27
  • Friday, July 3
  • Saturday, July 11
  • Saturday, July 18

Our office remains available to help identify alternative dates, locations, and permitting options that can minimize disruption.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as Miami-Dade County hosts these major international events. We appreciate your continued partnership in keeping film production safe and successful in our community.

Television Series

Peacock is scheduled to premiere its new crime drama “M.I.A.” on May 7

Peacock is scheduled to premiere its new crime drama "M.I.A." on May 7, 2026, with all nine episodes of the inaugural season to be released simultaneously in a binge format rollout. Watch the trailer.

Set and filmed in South Florida, “M.I.A.” follows Etta Tiger Jonze (played by Shannon Gisela), a tough-as-nails woman from the Florida Keys whose family’s drug operation collapses in tragedy. Struggling to survive, Etta is drawn into the neon-lit and dangerous underworld of Miami—a journey that transforms her into a formidable queenpin. The show is spearheaded by writers and executive producers Bill Dubuque (Ozark) and Karen Campbell (Dexter).

Filmed entirely in Miami-Dade County, “M.I.A.” is a rare case of a television series both set and produced on location in Miami. Streaming on Peacock starting May 7, this 9-episode thriller promises an intense, location-rich dive into Miami’s criminal depths.
